Green Mountin Region is a division of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

On Monday evening June 1, 2003, our first car restoration seminar was held at the home and garage of Gene Napoliello in Waterbury Center, Vermont. David Steinman from Waitsfield gave an excellent presentation on the planning and execution of the car restoration process.

David used his own car restorations as examples sharing restoration albums to demonstrate each step in the process. Gene's 1963 Corvair was evaluated by David who found significant mechanical maladies -- the wheels and rear springs need some immediate attention prior to driving.

Membership does have its privileges and bennies and this is exactly why the GMR was formed. Our hands on portion of the evening included Gary Sassi of Barre demonstrating how to polish stainless steel moldings using a stand mounted lathe, 1/2 horse motor at 1700 rpm's and 3 grades of polishing compound.

Gary recommends a 3/4 horse and 3600 rpm's for best results. In addition to David, Gary and Gene, those present included Mark Bennett, Bill Billado, Richard Pignatello, Bob Chase, Bob Gioria, and Lou Ahlen.
